Rules of engagement
Ethical hackers only test a system when they are allowed to. Before you use the security labs, read these rules and agree to them.
- Permission. You only test the fictional systems in this site. The owner, Glenbrae Outdoor Gear, has given permission for that and nothing else.
- Boundaries. Each lab says what is in scope. If something is out of scope, you leave it alone.
- Defensive purpose. You are finding weaknesses so they can be fixed, and you report everything you find.
- The law. Getting into a computer, account or data without permission is a crime under the Computer Misuse Act 1990, even "just to look". That includes a friend's account, the school network and any real website.
- Real people. You never look up or post real people's details. The people in the labs are made up.
